THE ENFORCERS

IN A short time, Harry Bennett morphed the watchmen group he created into what became known as the Ford Service Department. Made up of ex-pugs and thugs, these enforcers (800 strong at their peak) roamed the Ford factory instilling fear everywhere they went.

ACTIVITY

DESIGN AN AUTOMOBILE DASHBOARD

EDSEL FORD WAS THE STYLIST IN THE FORD FAMILY. He was most interested in automobile interiors, particularly the dashboard. The cars Edsel worked on had relatively simple dashboards: a speedometer, an odometer, fuel and temperature gauges, and not much else.

Today, car dashboards are loaded with indicators and instruments. In this activity, you design a dashboard for the car of your dreams. It can be as fanciful and imaginative as you want. It can contain devices that exist today or ones that you imagine might someday come to be, such as voice-activated steering. Let your imagination run wild.
